Mechanic’s special , parts car , and project are some of the saddest words in the universe.
I let you down oppo. I let you all down.

The worst is when they post:
“just needs a (name $30 part here).”
If it’s all it needs why the fuck did you not replace it already and sell the car for hundreds more? Obviously there is other issues at hand that you are not being honest about.

The sad thing is we’ve bought several motorcycles advertised like that, and they really did just need a new battery, or a carb rebuild.

Or in my case, freeing up time and funds for the other project haha

For me I’ll sell my vehicle in the best condition I can. So if all it takes is a battery I’ll put a new battery and raise the price by the price of the battery.
When someone comes to see it I want them to be confident everything is exactly as advertised and there is no doubts whatsoever.

Nah still holding on to that one. This is a Legacy GT that was supposed to be a daily... but thanks to a string of ridiculous events that will one day make a great oppo write up never became one.

I spent several months cleaning out, cleaning up, checking brakes, fuel system, and such to get my ‘67 VW Squareback back to running condition after several years of neglect. Got it going, but it had an oil leak. Finally checked deeper to find out the thrust bearings were going out. Had to park it, again, until I scrape the funds to rebuild the engine. So close. So close. Fun for a short while.
